On 29th January, 2015 the Sudanese Writers Union was dissolved and its cultural activities banned by the Registrar of the Cultural Groups of Ministry of Culture, Sudan.
This is to state that The Union of Finnish Writers condemn such unlawful and unjustified proceedings in Sudan. They seem to be arbitrary and directed against our Sudanese colleagues’ profession and, furthermore, against freedom of expression.
We want to address our support to all Sudanese writers and demand that they are allowed to continue their work.
